Only one state agency licensing board of psychology formally approves credentialing organizations. That Psychology Licensing Board is the Florida Board of Psychology.

In all other states, the psychology boards are empowered to approve psychologists for general psychology licensing practices.

The American Psychological Association (APA,) has not established any standards for approval of other psychological organizations, such as any credentialing psychology organizations, nor does it formally give its approval; allthough APA does have collegial relationships with many such organizations.

ICPP, (the pioneer, and first in Psychopharmacology specialty credentialing Board Certified Diplomate designations), is the only credentialing organization formally approved by the Florida State Licensing Board of Psychology that offers a Board Certified Diplomate in the specialty of Psychopharmacology as one of its many specialty designations. ICPP was unanimously approved at the Board’s very first meeting to approve credentialing organizations.

ICPP is the first to offer Board Certified Diplomate Fellow reciprocity to Ph.D. and Psy.D. licensed psychologist MS graduates in Psychopharmacology, who have completed their MS academic programs. It is not required for the applicant to have taken any national examination, as many are waiting for more state prescribing laws to pass.

The notable, and even remarkable increases in the personal practice of psychologists who have posted their specialty in Psychopharmacology and or other Specialty Diplomates to referring Primary Care and other MD’s and DO’s, or to state and federal agencies, attorneys, hospitals, nurse practitioners and other referral sources, are frequently reported to ICPP, as well as to Prescribing Psychologist's Register (PPR,) the known pioneer psychopharmacology training organization for psychologists.(Web site: www.pprpsych.com).
